Created by the American heiress Peggy Guggenheim (1898-1979), the museum presents major works of Cubism, Futurism, European abstraction, Surrealism, and American Abstract Expressionism; it also hosts masterpieces from the Hannelore B. and Rudolph B. Schulhof Collection, the Nasher Sculpture Garden, and temporary exhibitions.
