Intrapresæ for Pollock 365 Days

On 3 February, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and Intrapresæ presented three unmissable exhibitions to the press, which will take place during 2015 in the Venetian museum:

ALCHEMY BY JACKSON POLLOCK. DISCOVERING THE ARTIST AT WORK
February 14 – April 6, 2015
Curated by Luciano Pensabene and Roberto Bellucci

JACKSON POLLOCK’S MURAL: ENERGY MADE VISIBLE
April 22 – November 9, 2015
Curated by David Anfam

CHARLES POLLOCK: A RETROSPECTIVE
April 22 – September 14, 2015
Curated by Philip Rylands

The abundant exhibition program will open with Alchemy by Jackson Pollock. Discovering the Artist at Work which will enable the viewer to discover the explosion of colors found after a long cleaning intervention, in a surprising rediscovery of this most celebrated work, which, exceptionally, will be displayed without a protective case in order to offer an exact reading of its complex three-dimensional surface. The exhibition will guide the visitor through a unique and fascinating journey inside the painting, its technique, and its restauration by means of an engaging multimedia display.

Thanks to the support of the group Intrapresæ Guggenheim Collection, the greatest work of art realized by Jackson Pollock, and, according to some, the most significant American work of art of the twentieth century, the immense Mural which the American patron commissioned from Jackson Pollock in 1943 for her apartment in New York will ‘return home to Peggy’.

The first retrospective on Charles, Jackson’s older brother and also a painter, will open in concurrence with the arrival of Mural. This exhibition will display many unknown works and private documents which will recount the family relationship between the two Pollock brothers.
