Pirelli: Primitive in HangarBicocca

Pirelli: Primitive in HangarBicocca
20 aprile 2013

A total immersion in the evocative, visionary dream world of one of the top names in contemporary cinema and art: Apichatpong Weerasethakul (Bangkok 1970), Thai artist and film director invited at Documenta in Kassel in 2012 and honored with numerous awards (including the Palme d’Or at Cannes in 2010 and the Jury Prize at the same festival in 2004), presents in HangarBicocca Primitive, an exhibition especially conceived for the premises in Milan.
Curated by Andrea Lissoni and made possible by the support of Pirelli, the project leads the visitor into a world of cinema and sound, documentary-interviews and music clips, with a mix of artistic genres and languages that create a truly choral work.
Primitive is a contemporary tale in which we find biographical elements and reflections on history, youth culture and spirituality, with dreamlike atmospheres and social criticism. In almost total darkness, the installation is permeated by a magical, mysterious atmosphere which shifts between the opposites of light and dark, silence and noise, love of life and the burden of memory.
With the exhibition, on view from March 7 until April 28 2013, HangarBicocca proposes many initiatives, such as screenings, guided tours, meetings and events with free admission. The program of exhibitions and activities of HangarBicocca is made possible thanks to Pirelli, Founder Promoter of the Foundation HangarBicoccca which considers the contemporary arts center as the natural continuation of the company’s commitment to the most advanced forms of innovation.
