The exhibition “A point of view” and the minimalist aesthetic philosophy

On the occasion of the Architecture Biennale 2021 Sanlorenzo, Institutional Patron of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, and John Pawson, English architect expert in minimalism, meet in the exhibition “A point of view” at the Casa dei Tre Oci in Venice.

The House is an exhibition space that has become an important reference point for photography and as such will host the exhibition from May 22 to July 31. The exhibition is divided into two sections, “Sanlorenzo” and “Home”: going through them freely it will be possible to experience an essential and simple artistic universe.
The designer, called to present the interiors of a new Sanlorenzo superyacht, has chosen to communicate his aesthetic philosophy through two parallel subjects: the yacht and his own home.

In the photographs on display it is possible to find the attention to detail, a value shared by Sanlorenzo and John Pawson, the search for simplicity and structural purity that underlies this peculiar conception of space. In this way, the gaze comes into direct contact with what it perceives, moving free from all that is superfluous. In this way it is possible to enjoy the perfect balance between light, space, proportions and surfaces recreated by the English architect: Pawson invites to a welcoming environment that transmits peace and serenity, recalling the quietness of the sea.

“Home: a self-portrait – a domestic space – a photograph”.
In a unique collection of eight photographs, the designer represents, in an intimate and personal way, the spaces of his homes in London and Oxfordshire. In a completely original way, Pawson shows a series of self-portraits where the human presence is not explicitly immortalized but only sensed: it is perceived through the play of light and shadow that testify to living in a comfortable space.

The union between Sanlorenzo and John Pawson is the reflection of that innovative spirit, open to artistic influences, which has led the shipyard to collaborate with important exponents of the design world such as Rodolfo Dordoni, Pietro Lissoni, Citterio Viel and others, deeply renewing the sphere of nautical design.
