On Friday, 1st March 2019, the corporate members of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection met the director Karole Vail and the staff for the first meeting of the year.
Hosted in the rooms of Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, the meeting began with a welcome greeting at the cafeteria and ended in the temporary exhibition rooms, passing through the library and the museum restoration lab.
In the morning, the conservator Luciano Pensabene welcomed the companies in the museum restoration lab and explained the main intervention methods for the analysis of Edmondo Bacci’s works. The Peggy Guggenehim Collection, in fact, will host a retrospective on the artist the coming autumn.
The opportunity to observe closely the features of a work by Bacci, offered a chance to reflect on how importanti it is to invest in advanced tools for the restoration of these works “not only for today’s research, but also to ensure access to it to future generations”, said the director Karole Vail during the meeting.
At the end of the day, Grazina Subelytè, Curatorial Assistant of the museum, guided the members in a special visit to the exhibition From gesture to form. Post-war European and American art in the Schulhof Collection currently set up in the museum’s temporary rooms and open until 18 March.
In this year of homage to the dynamic and passionate spirit of Peggy and her home, it has been a pleasure to host the Corporate Membership meeting at the museum and we want to show our appreciation for the valuable contribution of your companies. We thank you for ceaselessly sharing with us your experience and knowledge for the promotion of creativity and innovation, and we wish that our network will keep strengthening in the name of art.
